• TECHNICAL/STAGING INFORMATION •

The MAGICADABRA show is adaptable to all performing situations. While the ideal venue is a proscenium-style stage with front traveling curtain, the show may be successfully staged on a bare stage, platform or banquet riser.

THE STAGE:

The show requires an ideal stage area of at least 24 feet wide x 12 feet deep of performing space. If appearing on a proscenium stage, an area approximately 4 feet deep - in front of the main curtain/traveler is ideal. A set of steps (preferably center-stage) leading into the audience is required. These steps will be used many times throughout the show by the cast and audience members, so it is imperative that they are solid and secure.

For platforms or risers, please be sure they are solid and sections are securely attached together. Many properties during the show are rolled on stage, so the platform surface must be smooth, with no gaps. A set of steps, as outlined above, is also required for platform shows.

Please be sure that the stage is CLEAN AND CLEAR of all items PRIOR TO OUR ARRIVAL.  The show makes use of all back stage and wing space available. Please keep these areas clear.

CURTAINS:

MAGICADABRAcarries a complete background set, including a 24 foot wide x 8 foot high self-standing curtained backdrop and two 8-foot side wings/legs to mask any stage or platform. On fully-equipped proscenium stages we will always make use of any house draperies/drops, in addition to our own. Please be sure house drops are in working order.

SOUND AND LIGHTING:

While we always prefer to make use of quality in-house equipment,MAGICADABRAcarries complete lighting and sound to augment existing equipment or use in the event house systems are not available. The show requires two 120v. 20 amp electrical circuits with plain Edison-type plugs for our equipment.

If using house-provided lights and sound, one operator (provided by the house) should be on-hand for a technical rehearsal 2 hours before the doors open to the public.

All show music is controlled from the stage with our wireless system that will patch into your house board with either 1/4" or XLR plugs. Our wireless microphone (Shure SM58) will also patch into your house board. Our total sound requirements are two channels. We will also make use of a hard-wired microphone, if available, for backstage announcements to the house. Please have enough microphone cord for this mic to extend across the stage, if necessary. This mic should be on a straight, adjustable floor stand.

Our lighting pre-set consists of two scenes:

1. A general warm wash (red, white and blue gels) that covers the full stage.

2. A dark red and blue wash that covers the full stage.

If a follow-spotlight is available, we will make use of it with a house-provided operator. This operator may be the same person who controls lights and sound during the show, as once these items are pre-set during the technical run through before the show, the operator may concentrate on the follow-spot during the actual performance.

LOAD-IN/LOAD-OUT:

The show will arrive a minimum of 4 hours before the advertised curtain-time for the public. Please have the stage/loading door open at that time. We will make use of one or two crew persons if available, to assist during the 20 minute load-in process. Once the crates and trunks are back stage, no further assistance form the house crew is needed.

Following the show, allow 2 hours for striking and loading of the show before our departure.
